Description
This print is part of Durer's Apocalypse series, which depicts scenes from the book of Revelations. Throughout the series, Durer depicted turbaned figures as the sinners, the bringers of the Apocalypse. Oriental costume becomes synonymous with sin and the end of times in the series, which speaks to the European vilifaction of the Orient for political and religious reasons alike.
