Bearded man wearing a turban, depicted in bust length from behind in three-quarters view
Subject

Description
This etching was created by Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo as part of a series currently housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The man in the etching wears a loose turban and a large cloaked garment. As he turns away from the audience, his identity disappears almost completely, save his attire. His identity becomes inseparable from his turban, which effectively asserts his exoticism as a foreigner from the East.
