Description

This drawing is a study female Turkish clothing. The woman depicted wears a turban with a tall hat and a simple long sleeved dress, and sits cross-legged. Bellini labelled the different parts of her costume to indicate their colors. Bellini's time spent in Turkey gave him ample time to study Oriental clothing and draw these costumes as carefully as possible. His meticulous drawings would later become models for other artists interested in depicting Oriental costume.
